making movies lyrics

This story's told in flashback otherwise it makes no sense
I'm searching through these films as some kind of self defence

You're always making movies
That's really what you do
You're always making movies
Arranging subtle clues

You re-arrange the lighting
You're editing events
You make a silent gesture
You're quietly intense
You're living in a movie
That's really what you do
Your music strange and almost as beautiful as you

You're always making movies
Some kind of perfect life?
Some scenes of glowing summer
Glimpses of perfect times?

Some lifetimes lived in flashback
Wandering from set to set
A sudden giant close-up
A hint of strange regret

You're always making movies
That's really what you do
You're never quite in focus
Some sequences confused

This story's told in flashback otherwise it makes no sense
I'm searching through these films as some kind of self defence

I'm always watching movies
Your movie's all of you
I understand that movies are really what you do

You're always making movies...

I'm always watching movies...
