Song: ladders to climb
Everybody wants to leave this town,
But don't let that one red light slow you down,
Go on and chase your crazy dreams around,
A piece of tin blew off the barn last night,
I've got my own ladders to climb
My baby's names up on the water tank,
A big "I Love You" left by her old flame,
Man I can't look at it another day,
I've got some elbow grease and some turpentine,
I've got my own ladders to climb
Chorus
Don't need to be on top,
I'm good with what I've got,
Just let me hang one bright,
star up there in the sky
And try to be the man,
My baby thinks I am.
Just wanna live my life,
one step at a time.
Yeah, I've got my own ladders to climb.
The day is coming when they load that train,
With all the sinners he turned into saints.
And I know right now thats something that I ain't.
And I dont want to be left behind.
So I've got my own ladders to climb.
Chorus
Can't buy a ticket there,
You've got to earn your fair.
Just let me be one bright,
star up there in the sky.
And do the best I can,
To be a better man.
Just want to live my life,
One step at a time.
Yeah, I've got my own ladders to climb
Well I've got my own, ladders to climb.
Ladders to climb.
